Thompson Swings for the Cycle

John Thompson roughed up Texas Rangers pitching in a big way at Coors Field today, leading the Colorado to a 14-2 win.
With his parents and family watching from the stands, the 23-year-old right fielder put on a magnificent show, hitting for the cycle -- collecting a single, double, triple and home run in the same game.
"It was a good day for that to happen," a beaming Thompson said after the game. "I really got some good looks and delivered. Sometimes you're just on."
He finished his historic day with 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 5 runs batted in and 4 runs scored.
John Thompson walked in the 1st, hit a two-run double in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI triple in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Garfield Nungaray in the 7th and grounded out in the 8th.
In the current season, Thompson has put up a .300 batting average with 45 hits, 2 home runs, 22 runs batted in and scored 25 runs.
