Martinez Keeps Hit Streak Alive Friday, April 19th , 2030 The Texas Rangers may have proven to be mere mortals today as they lost 8-7 to the Toronto Blue Jays, but Juan Martinez continued to hit like a god. The shortstop collected 1 hit in 4 at-bats in the loss and extended his hitting streak to 25 games. "Martinez is playing great and is on fire right now," Rangers manager Juan Carrera said. "Hopefully his play can spark the rest of our team and help us pick up some wins." Martinez was apparently not happy with the game and when pressed by reporters in the locker room only said "nothing else matters but the loss." Juan Martinez singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, walked in the 4th, flied out in the 6th and flied out in the 8th. Martinez has a .443 average and a .467 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 31 hits, no home runs and driven in 11 runs. |
