Martinez Hits in 20 Consecutive Games Saturday, April 13th , 2030 Juan Martinez, shortstop for the Texas Rangers, ran his consecutive-game hitting streak to 20 games with 2 hits in his club's 2-1 victory today over the St. Louis Terriers at Globe Life Park in Arlington today. "I don't really know why it's even happening," he said with a grin after the game. "So asking me how long I can keep it up is kind of irrelevant. It'll end when it ends." Juan Martinez walked in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th and hit an RBI double in the 7th. This season Martinez is swinging the bat at a .500 rate with 24 hits in 48 at-bats. To date he has hit no home runs, scored 11 runs and driven in 9. |
