Big Trade in SKY Monday, August 9th, 2027 A major trade has been executed between the Kansas City Royals and St. Louis Cardinals, one that has stunned the baseball world. The Royals traded 26-year-old RHP Jose Cortes and 26-year-old RHP Jeremy Hildebrand to the Cardinals for 28-year-old RHP Edwin Carreno. "Putting this deal together was a lot of hard work, but the payoff will be tremendous," Kansas City GM Matt Kramer said when contacted by BNN. "Royals fans ought to be excited about it." BNN analysts are still debating who got the better end of the deal, but Cardinals manager Brad Rawls said he already knows all he needs: "This trade will win us more ballgames," he said. To this point in the season Cortes has no saves in 8 relief appearances with a 1-2 record and 3.00 ERA. This year Carreno has earned 11 saves, made 29 relief appearances, fanned 43 hitters in 32.2 innings and posted an ERA of 1.10 and a 5-2 record. |
