Cubs End Leal's Streak
Tuesday, August 28th , 2029
The Chicago Cubs got more than the 5-4 victory at Wrigley Field today -- they also put an end to the 23-game hitting streak of St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Leon Leal by holding him without a hit in 3 at-bats.
After the game, Leal seemed more concerned with his team taking the loss than with the demise of his streak.
"I had some great looks at some pitches that I should have hit," he said. "I missed some that I shouldn't have swung at. All in all, I wasn't much help with the bat today."
During the current season Leal is batting at a .374 clip with 3 home runs and 52 RBIs. He has played in 121 games and scored 84 times.
