Maldonado Smacks 5 Hits for Yankees Tuesday, June 5th , 2035 There was no storybook ending. Chris Maldonado of the New York Yankees socked it to the visiting Minnesota Twins with a terrific 5-hit game today, but his team didn't get the win. The Yankees fell, 10-5, at Yankee Stadium. "I don't want to sound ungrateful, but something is missing here," Maldonado complained following the loss. "When you have a great game you should win the game, too." He definitely had an unforgettable day in the batter's box, ripping out 5 hits in 5 at-bats. New York manager Doug Barriteau sympathized with his right fielder, telling BNN reporters after the game that "Chris played a whale of a game, but sometimes individual brilliance is not enough." Chris Maldonado doubled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, doubled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th. Looking at his stats this year, Maldonado has compiled a .305 batting average, while hitting no home runs and driving in 6 runs. He has played in 37 games and scored 16 runs.
