League Punishes Pair for Fighting Saturday, October 11th , 2042 After an intense confrontation, both the Black Bears Ward Bell and the Marlins Elvis García were handed their punishments today. The league commissioner's office issued suspensions for an on-the-field conflict that occurred at a recent Virginia-Miami game. Ward Bell will miss 4 games, while Elvis García was suspended for 8 games. "Sometimes we go too far and have to pay the consequences," Ward Bell commented later. "Hopefully cooler heads will prevail the next time we play." This year Bell is hitting .283 with 127 hits, 19 home runs, 71 RBIs and has scored 47 runs. This season García has compiled a 4-12 mark with a 4.34 ERA in 26 starts. |
