Oakland Snaps Wimbush's Streak at 29 Wednesday, August 19th, 2026 Seattle triumphed over Oakland today, but that was only one of the headlines from the game -- Mariners center fielder Jonathan Wimbush failed to get a hit in the 6-1 win, bringing his 29-game hitting streak to an abrupt end. "I carried the club a few times over the past couple weeks, but today they carried me," he told reporters in his postgame remarks. "No matter what else happens, it is always good to win a ballgame."
