Nelson Sparkles in 5-0 Shutout Tuesday, August 2nd, 2022 Noel Nelson of the New York Mets was on fire against the San Francisco Giants at Citi Field today. He shut them out 5-0 on 4 hits, collecting 9 strikeouts and allowing 1 walk. "The first two pitches I'm looking for an out, a ground ball or a fly ball," Nelson said later. "I'm trying to get quick outs. I've never been a big believer in trying to strike a guy out from the very first pitch. It's too easy to end up behind in the count doing that." Nelson has made 18 starts so far this year and put up a 8-4 won-lost record with a 4.86 ERA. In 100 innings he has allowed 93 hits, walked 25 and struck out 99.
