Kansas City-Pittsburgh Trade: Saavedra for Willis
Monday, January 26th, 2026
According to BNN there were mixed emotions by the players involved in the trade between the Kansas City Royals and the Pittsburgh Pirates. As part of the deal, the Royals swapped 26-year-old 1B Pedro Saavedra and 34-year-old 1B Jordan Ramos to the Pirates getting 24-year-old minor league LHP Rich Willis and a 3rd round draft pick in return. The players indicated it was good to get a fresh new start in another city, but it was difficult to leave your friends on the old team.

Saavedra's career batting average is .287. In 318 games, he has gotten 359 hits, 55 home runs, 180 RBIs and scored 151 runs.
