Players Suspended in Reds-Athletics Donnybrook Saturday, June 22nd, 2019 Yesterday at Great American Ball Park Mike Bielski and Jonathon Baker got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Cincinnati Reds and Oakland Athletics. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Bielski will have to sit out 4 while Baker would be given a 8-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. Currently Bielski is batting .227 with 46 hits and 10 home runs. He has knocked in 26 runs and scored 30 times. This season he has made 24 relief appearances with no saves. In 34.2 innings Baker has chalked up 39 strikeouts while posting a 1-1 record and a 5.19 ERA |
