Washington-Los Angeles Trade: Penney for Freeman
Monday, June 3rd, 2019
BNN has learned the Washington Nationals have reportedly worked out a deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Sources close to the Nationals indicated that a trade has been reached in principle where 22-year-old minor league SS Elijah Freeman will be swapped to Washington with 30-year-old RHP Mark Penney heading to Los Angeles. Neither organization would comment on the report, saying it was club policy not to speak about a trade until it was finalized.
Washington will retain a portion of Penney's remaining contract.
For the year Mark Penney has made 13 relief appearances and nailed down 8 saves. In 12.1 innings he has fanned 17 batters and walked 9. His record is 0-2 with a 5.11 ERA and the opposition is batting .222 against him.
