WEST Picks June's Top Pitcher Thursday, July 1st , 2038 Tough in the clutch -- that's a bullpen specialist. And one of the best in the league is Sam Mahler of the Portland Hops. Mahler was outstanding in June and was named the Pitcher of the Month in the Western Region. Portland's star reliever held the opposition to a .210 average and put up 10 saves and 23 strikeouts in 16.2 innings with a 2-1 mark and a 1.08 ERA. For the year Mahler has 25 saves. In 34 relief appearances he has hurled 39 innings, fanned 45 and issued 12 walks with a 4-1 record. The Portland reliever has recorded a 2.08 ERA and allowed the opposition to hit .180 when he is on the hill. |
