Dust Devils Handed 8-4 Loss by Eugene
|
The inspired effort of Tri-City designated hitter Dano Rivera was not enough to prevent a loss, 8-4, to the Eugene Emeralds. Rivera was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The winning pitcher was Vince Schlather. His record now stands at 3-4. The left-hander went 7 innings, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits for the Emeralds. Bentley Shea earned the save for Eugene, his 3rd of the year.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Mitch Rice? The Eugene second baseman had a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Emeralds on top, 2-0. For the game, Rice had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"There's so many different ways you can win a game," said winning manager Oscar Luevano.
The Emeralds improved their record to 19-26 with the win over Tri-City.
