Flying Tigers Edged by Cavalry, 5-3
|
Cavalry right fielder Wayne Weber put his stamp on his team's 5-3 win over the Medford Flying Tigers. Weber was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for New Westminster in the contest. The winner was New Westminster reliever Jacob Wright, now 4-2. The loser was Ray Goodwin. With this game in the books, New Westminster is 20-19, Medford 21-18.
The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With New Westminster trailing 3-2, Weber jumped on a cutter from 19-year old right-handed pitcher Ray Goodwin and hit a 3-run home run to left. With one swing, the Cavalry had a walk-off win.
"What a great game, great atmosphere," Weber said.
