Shafer Lifts Black Bears to 4-3 Win
|
Edward A. LeLacheur Park was the site of an exciting ballgame between the West Virginia Black Bears and Lowell Spinners.
The timely hitting of James Shafer helped the West Virginia Black Bears down the Lowell Spinners, 4-3. Shafer slugged 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for the Black Bears. Jojo Longorza earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 3 innings. His record is now 1-1. Adrian Bayless earned the save, his 1st, for the Black Bears.
In the top of the first of a scoreless game, Shafer hit a 3-run home run to put his team ahead.
"We ground out the win," said Shafer. "That's all that matters."
After today's action, West Virginia sits at 32-24; Lowell slips to 14-42.
