Olivares Swings Canucks to 6-5 Win
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Abbotsford Canucks and Wenatchee Chiefs.
Abbotsford first baseman Fabian Olivares contributed significantly to his team's 6-5 win over the Wenatchee Chiefs. Olivares, who leads the NWL in triples with 3, went 4 for 5 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Canucks. Abbotsford pitcher Lance Goldberg earned the win, hiking his record to 1-2. Faustino Tercero suffered the loss. The save was credited to Joe Wilkinson, his 8th.
Abbotsford right fielder Doug Fowlkes made an impact. He drilled a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth. In the contest, Fowlkes went 4 for 6 with a double and 3 singles. He scored 2 times.
"We didn't play well enough to win," Wenatchee skipper James Barnes said.
The win puts the Canucks at 27-15, while the Chiefs drop to 13-29.
