On Road, Indians Top Chiefs, 3-0
|
Spokane and Wenatchee duked it out and the Indians came out victorious.
Spokane got a first-rate effort from pitcher Tom Delvecchio, who frustrated Wenatchee hitters en route to a 3-0 Indians triumph at Chiefs Stadium. Bart Widdows locked down his 15th save.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Marquez Martínez? The Spokane catcher had a run-scoring double in the top of the first inning to put the Indians on top, 1-0. For the game, Martínez had 1 double and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Spokane skipper Brice Bargman.
The Indians, at 27-14, lead by one game in their division.
