Chiefs Bounce Canucks, 6-5
|
The Wenatchee Chiefs beat the Abbotsford Canucks, 6-5, in part because of third baseman Rey Monterrey. He went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI. The winner was Oscar Bertels in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Elijah Goodman took the loss. Manny Gerber picked up his 1st save of the season.
With Wenatchee leading 4-3 in the top of the sixth, Monterrey hit a run-scoring single off Abbotsford hurler B.J. Hirst Jr.. It was the 15th hit of the season for Monterrey and put his team ahead, 5-3.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Monterrey told the Wenatchee Bulletin.
The Chiefs now have a mark of 16-19.
