New Westminster Cavalry starter Wilmot Edward turned in a sterling performance against the Medford Flying Tigers, leading his team to a slim, 3-2 win. Earning his 8th save of the year was Alex Lockett. With the win, New Westminster has a record of 29-9. Medford falls to 15-23.
Had Calvino Dieguez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Dieguez hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Cavalry.
"Tough loss," said Medford manager Francisco Hichez. "But we'll learn from it."
