Sea Unicorns Handle Pippins, Nab 4-3 Win
|
Yakima Valley designated hitter Bray Winget was sensational. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Gold Beach beat the Pippins, 4-3. Jake Pickel was called on to finish, recording his 1st save. The Sea Unicorns improved their record to 12-18 by beating Yakima Valley.
Gold Beach used the hitting of Josh Rewis to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Sea Unicorns on top, 4-3. For the game, Rewis had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
Gold Beach manager Frank Medrano was pleased with the team's effort. "It was just a good, gutsy performance by everybody," he said.
