Dust Devils Suffer 4-1 Loss to Eugene
|
Eugene starter Shane Sullivan put a stranglehold on the Tri-City offense. The right-hander had complete command of his splitter in leading the Emeralds to a 4-1 win. The winner was Sullivan. He threw 7.1 innings allowing 1 run. The loser was Refugio Navarrette. Sherwin Hang, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
Eugene second baseman Carlos Mediano contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a fastball to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 4th hit of the season and put the Emeralds ahead, 2-0.
Mediano called the win a test of his team's "mettle."
Eugene, now 13-15, holds down 6th place in the Northwest League South Division.
