Canucks Land Close Win
|
Mason Odom had a good game, but he could not keep the Yakima Valley Pippins from falling, 6-5, to the Abbotsford Canucks at Ballpark of Abbotsford. The Yakima Valley shortstop went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 in the loss. Abbotsford reliever Odisseus Díaz was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Leo Almonte took the loss. Picking up his 5th save was 20-year old right-handed pitcher Tony Pimental.
Raul De La Torre helped out the Abbotsford cause in the bottom of the first inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the designated hitter was 1-4 with a walk.
"It wasn't our best performance," said De La Torre, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
Abbotsford's record now stands at 15-12, placing them 4th in the Northwest League North Division.
