Salem-Keizer Beats Eugene, 8-7
|
The Salem-Keizer Volcanoes overcame a fine performance by Eugene right fielder Elner Anuja to defeat the Emeralds, 8-7, at PK Park. Anuja went 2-4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. The save was credited to Robert Kinahan, his 16th. The Volcanoes have an impressive 30-18 record.
Ueleni Latu, the 23-year old catcher , had a direct impact on the outcome. Latu contributed a 2-run single in the top of the fourth inning to put Salem-Keizer up, 4-0.
"It all depends on which version of our team shows up," said Latu. "When we put it all together, I think we're a great team."
