Gold Beach Falls, 9-4, as Skid Hits 7 Games

The 2052 season is getting uglier for Gold Beach.
The New Westminster Cavalry defeated the Gold Beach Sea Unicorns, 9-4. Doing his part was left fielder T.J. Diffley, who was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Reliever Levi Maiotti picked up the win. His record improves to 2-1. Mike Young took the loss.
Had Eugene Martin not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Martin hit a 2-run single. That made the score 6-4, in favor of the Cavalry.
"Everyone's kind of edgy right now," said losing manager Mike McEvoy, "but nothing a couple of wins wouldn't cure."
The last-place Cavalry sport a record of 17-28.
