Medford Wins, 4-2, Behind 2 Guilfoyle Home Runs
|
Porter Guilfoyle powered the Medford Flying Tigers to a win over the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes. The final score was 4-2. The Medford third baseman, who is tied for 4th in the NWL in doubles with 6, was phenomenal. He stroked 3 extra-base hits, including 2 home runs and 1 double. Tony Fjeldsted picked up the win in relief for Medford, while Mauricio Arroyos took the loss. Kick Warner stitched up the save, his 4th.
With Medford trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Guilfoyle hit a fastball from Mauricio Arroyos for a 2-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Flying Tigers ahead, 2-1.
In postgame remarks, Guilfoyle hailed his team's "single-minded determination."
The win makes Medford 5-10, nothing to write home about.
