Indians Grind Out 2-1 Win
|
Eugene got a valiant performance from pitcher Vince Schlather, but it wasn't enough to beat the Spokane Indians. Spokane won the game, 2-1. Schlather threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. The winner in relief was Kerry Perea. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. He now owns a record of 1-0. Chad Kendall, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2063 draft, nailed down the save.
Jonah Ortiz drove in one run for Spokane. The 21-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the third. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Vince Schlather. It was his 8th RBI of the season.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Oscar Luevano.
Spokane is now 12-4, Eugene 4-12.
