Spartans Take Down Pippins, 5-2
|
With first baseman Rick Oswald leading the charge, the Olympia Spartans defeated the Yakima Valley Pippins, 5-2, at Ballpark of Victoria. Oswald went 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 2 times. Ayden Cook earned the save for Olympia, his 5th of the year. Olympia has a mark of 8-5 after the win.
Olympia second baseman Dewey Pressley contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two down, he hit a curveball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 9th hit of the season and put the Spartans ahead, 2-1.
"We need better swings, better at-bats," said losing manager Noah Brooks.
