Chiefs Come Back Late, Nip Canucks
|
Abbotsford wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Noah Bélanger, falling to the Wenatchee Chiefs, 4-3. Bélanger threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Brady Hicks picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-1. Jasen Phillips was tagged with the loss. The win has Wenatchee at 3-7.
Stephen Thompson went 1-3 for Wenatchee. The 21-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Jasen Phillips. It was his 5th RBI of the season.
"Nice to get this one," said Thompson. "We've been scuffling."
