Campbell Leads Spikes to 8-1 Win Over Tigers
|
The State College Spikes relied on the hitting of designated hitter Minnie Campbell to stop the Connecticut Tigers, 8-1. For the game, Campbell went 2 for 2 with a home run and 3 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. The winner was Brent Harbin, who threw 94 pitches over 7 innings. The right-hander was charged with no runs on 1 hit. The winning streak has now reached 4 games for State College.
The Spikes benefited from a costly error in the bottom of the first. With Holden Sedlock at bat and State College leading 1-0, the Connecticut miscue allowed State College to plate 1 and take the lead, 2-0.
"Slowly but surely, the wins are piling up," said Sedlock.
