Pippins Clonk Chiefs, 6-2
|
Yakima Valley pitcher Johnny Huerta had a large part in his team subduing the Wenatchee Chiefs, 6-2. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the left-hander. Huerta picked up the win for Yakima Valley, going 7.2 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0. Wenatchee now has a record of 5-3.
Yakima Valley right fielder Michael Carter contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a sinker to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 11th hit of the season and put the Pippins ahead, 2-0.
"I think we did a good job of looking for pitches we wanted to hit and put good swings on them," said Yakima Valley skipper Curt O'Neill.
