The Olympia Spartans topped the Medford Flying Tigers, 10-8, with youngster Sleepy Manker playing a key role. Manker went 1-1 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Spartans in the win. Reliever Gunner McKeeth picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Ron Forbes took the loss. Olympia sits at 2-1.

In the top of the eighth, the Spartans grabbed the lead when Manker hit his 1st home run of the season. The grand slam home run off Ron Forbes made it 9-7, Olympia.

"It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager Jim Todd.
