McGowan, Indians Too Much for Cavalry
|
Everett McGowan impressed in the 12-6 Spokane win over New Westminster. McGowan went 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 3 and driving in 4. Spokane pitcher Ross Lehnert earned the win, hiking his record to 1-0. Jonathan Marquez suffered the loss. With the win, Spokane is 1-3.
Gotzone Batista had a big grand slam home run for the Indians in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Spokane trailing 6-5 and the bases loaded, he sized up a fastball from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Jonathan Marquez and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Indians on top, 9-6.
"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Batista told the Spokane Observer.
