Dust Devils Absorb 8-4 Home Loss
|
The Spokane Indians took on the Tri-City Dust Devils at Gesa Stadium.
In the 8-4 Spokane win over Tri-City, the impact of Derek Rurup was substantial. Rurup went 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. The winner was Giuliano Lugio, who threw 99 pitches over 5 innings. The left-hander was charged with 4 runs on 6 hits. R.J. Roland recorded his 1st save for Spokane.
Nicky Raimondo had a big 2-run double for the Indians in the top of the fifth inning. With Spokane leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 20-year old right-handed pitcher Refugio Navarrette and swatted a double to right. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Indians ahead, 3-0.
"Winning never gets dull," said Rurup.
The Indians raised their record to 2-0.
