Fans of the Wenatchee Chiefs who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Wenatchee win over the visiting Olympia Spartans, 2-1. Colt Laughary started for the home team against Alberto Balderrama. Colt Laughary earned accolades for his performance. In 8 innings, Laughary surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. V.J. Lumpkin recorded his 1st save for Wenatchee.

Wenatchee took a 2-1 lead on Miguel Alvarado's 1st home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Alvarado hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Olympia pitcher Yenaro Cordero visibly frustrated.
