Black Bears Winners, 5-2, at Dwyer Stadium
|
West Virginia Black Bears starter Jae Barham was on his game, helping his team beat the Batavia Muckdogs, 5-2. Barham got the win, improving to 5-4. He gave up 8 hits and walked 1 over 6.1 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Richard Mercado nailed down the save.
It could have been a different outcome for West Virginia, had it not been for Lucas Abler, the 21-year old shortstop . Abler contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put West Virginia up, 2-0.
"Jae knows how to get ahead of hitters, stay ahead of hitters, and put people out," said West Virginia manager Jesus Sánchez.
The victory gives West Virginia a record of 41-27.
