Spikes Sting Spinners, 3-1

The State College Spikes topped the Lowell Spinners, 3-1, in New York-Penn League action at Bowman Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of State College pitcher Jack Hayes. State College is 41-29 and Lowell, with the loss, 38-32.
The Spikes got a big at-bat from designated hitter Ed Inman. For the game, Inman was 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 9th home run of the season gave State College a 3-1 lead.
"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Hayes.
