Muckdogs Dump Jamestown, 1-0, to Win 4th in a Row
|
Jamestown wasted a solid 5.2-inning effort from starting pitcher Brett Didenko, losing to Batavia, 1-0, at Dwyer Stadium. Batavia pitcher Ash Branthoover earned the win, hiking his record to 6-0. Brett Didenko suffered the loss. Getting the save was Joseph Sawit, his 3rd.
The Muckdogs got a big at-bat from third baseman Debby Alonzo. For the game, Alonzo went 2 for 4 with a double. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 3rd double of the season gave Batavia a 1-0 lead.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Alonzo told the Batavia Citizen.
Batavia has a record of 51-19, placing them first in the New York-Penn League North Division.
