Spikes Score 4-2 Win Over Aberdeen
|
Though he had a great game, Regis Alicea could not single-handedly produce a win for Aberdeen. State College won the game, 4-2. Alicea hit 2 home runs. Kieran Velez earned the win for State College. He lasted 5 innings, allowing 2 runs on 9 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 3-5. The save went to Malcolm Brown, his 15th this season.
State College used a well-timed hit by J.J. Maslach to capture the win. The left fielder socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Spikes ahead, 3-2. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.
Said losing manager Chad Gutierrez: "Not taking anything away from them, but we swung the bats better than what it showed."
State College currently is in 4th place in the New York-Penn League South Division at 40-27.
