Atlantic City overcame a heroic effort from Adam Pitt to down Brooklyn, 4-1, in 10 innings. The Brooklyn pitcher threw 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball. Del Castrejon, credited with the win in relief, is now 1-3. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. Atlantic City, now 41-23, holds down first place in the New York-Penn League South Division.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Jackson Fitze? The 23-year old first baseman Fitze stroked a 2-run double in the top of the tenth inning to put Atlantic City up, 3-1. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"Being in first place now is good," said Fitze. "Being in first at the end of the season is better. That's our goal."
