Simons Lifts Doubledays to 8-7 Win
|
The Auburn Doubledays and Niagara Falls Rapids obliged fans hoping for an exciting game.
The Auburn Doubledays handed the Niagara Falls Rapids a loss at Falcon Park. The final score was 8-7. Julian Simons was one of the major contributors for Auburn. In addition to his 2 singles and 1 home run, he scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Jack Richards closed the game out for Auburn, earning his 17th save.
Simons contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Auburn in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 5-2, Simons took a sinker from Mort Wilson and stroked the home run to left. His 5th home run of the season allowed the Doubledays to leap in front, 6-5.
"We take it day by day here," said Simons, "and today was a good one for us."
Auburn now has a record of 36-30 with the win.
