Castaneda, Lake Monsters Beat Oilers, 1-0
|
In a tight game between the Vermont Lake Monsters and the Oil City Oilers, pitcher Dennis Castaneda was terrific on the mound. The Vermont right-hander helped his team to the 1-0 win. The save went to Nathan Simpson, his 5th this season. The first-place Lake Monsters have a record of 43-22.
Castaneda was the winner. He's now 5-0, after putting the Oil City offense in a vise grip. Over 8 innings, he gave up no runs on 4 hits, while racking up 6 Ks.
"Dennis had good stuff. When he did get into a compromising count, he made the most of it," said Vermont manager Charles Chaney.
