Tigers Get 2-1 Win Versus Maine
|
The Connecticut Tigers eked out a 2-1 win versus the Maine Lobsters at Portland Ballpark. Nobody did more than pitcher Pedro Pérez. He was terrific. Rickey Varagian wrapped it up, recording his 14th save. The 8th-place Tigers improved to 24-39.
Connecticut used the hitting of Kyle Woodson to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Tigers on top, 2-1. For the game, Woodson had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Maine manager Bill Medina. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
