Jammers Suffer 5-3 Home Loss
|
The Vermont Lake Monsters defeated the Jamestown Jammers by the score of 5-3, with the biggest share of the credit going to first baseman Gates Crosswhite. Crosswhite went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Lake Monsters on the day. Byram Sanderson picked up the win, lifting his record to 1-0 on the season. He struck out 6 and walked 3 in 6.1 innings, while yielding 3 runs. Gene Pierce got the save, the 2nd for him this season.
It could have been a different outcome for Vermont, had it not been for Charlie Durbin, the 22-year old center fielder . Durbin contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the fifth inning to put Vermont up, 5-3.
Durbin told a Vermont News reporter that the win made him feel "upbeat about our team."
Vermont is now 25-35, while Jamestown is 26-34.
