State College and Oil City put this game in the books despite some rain.
State College beat Oil City at The Oil Field, eking out a 3-2 win. The triumph was primarily due to second baseman Brian Bringle. He was 2-4 with 2 home runs and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. State College, now 31-30, holds down 8th place in the New York-Penn League South Division.
Bringle had a timely hit for State College in the top of the seventh. With State College trailing 2-1, he turned a 0-1 fastball into a 2-run home run. It was his 9th home run of the season, making it 3-2, State College.
Bringle told the State College Citizen: "I was born for the big stage."
