Mattos, Spikes Put Hurt on ValleyCats, 12-1
The State College Spikes had no problem beating the Tri-City ValleyCats, 12-1, at Bowman Field. Ford Mattos led the way. He went 3-4 with a home run, a triple, and a double. He drove in 6 runs and scored once for State College. State College is sitting pretty at 43-17.

With State College leading 8-1 in the bottom of the seventh, Mattos came up to bat against Tri-City pitcher Jonah Pierce. Mattos hit a slider to right for a grand slam home run. His 3rd home run of the season put the Spikes on top, 12-1.

"This is not a one-man show," said Mattos. "A lot of the guys stepped up."
