9-7 Triumph Takes Atlantic City to 39-23
The Atlantic City Jokers besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Staten Island center fielder Luther Hettman by beating the Pizza Rats, 9-7, at Monongalia County Ballpark. Hettman hit 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. David Jones earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. His record is now 1-2. Del Castrejon got credit for the save for Atlantic City. It was his 14th of the year.

Bryson Mandat, who is tied for 7th in the NYP with a .967 OPS, helped out the Atlantic City cause in the bottom of the first inning with a run-scoring ground out. For the game, the right fielder was 1-4.

"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Mandat told the Atlantic City Daily. "You win just by scoring more runs."

The Jokers, at 39-23, sit in first place in the New York-Penn League South Division.
