The Staten Island Pizza Rats picked up a win at Ripken Stadium, knocking off the Aberdeen Ironbirds, 6-5, in 10 innings. Starting pitcher Mitch Kucinski played a key role in the triumph. Donny Sireci earned save number 6 this season. Staten Island is third in the New York-Penn League South Division with a record of 39-22.

Staten Island used a timely hit from Phillip Belcher to get the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Pizza Rats ahead, 6-5. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it made an impact.

In postgame comments, Belcher said, "I think we gave the fans their money's worth."
