Spikes Topple Cyclones, 3-2
|
Fans saw a dandy of a game between the State College Spikes and Brooklyn Cyclones.
Both offenses were relatively subdued at MCU Park. Fortunately for the State College Spikes, though, Ed Inman was able to deliver in the clutch. He was 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, to lead his team past the Brooklyn Cyclones, 3-2. Sterling Tucker, now 3-0, was credited with the win in 1.1 innings of relief. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 0. Estevan Sese locked down his 4th save.
State College used the timely hitting of Logan Davis to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Spikes on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"That's baseball," said Brooklyn manager Trent McPherson. "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."
State College is now 34-23, Brooklyn 24-33.
