Cyclones Even Record with 6-1 Victory
|
Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Oil City Oilers take on the Brooklyn Cyclones.
Behind a fine performance from Ermengol Abrego, the Brooklyn Cyclones knocked off the Oil City Oilers, 6-1. Abrego went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2 for the Cyclones. Brooklyn pitcher Dom Bussom earned the win, hiking his record to 2-1. D.J. Myers suffered the loss.
Tony Woodrick took Oil City hurler D.J. Myers deep in the top of the first. His 2-run home run put the Cyclones on top, 2-0. In all, Woodrick had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 5.
"Been a rough stretch for us," said Oil City manager Zeke Butler.
The Oilers, now 16-40, have lost 5 in a row.
